Why Dolphins are in captivity?

Dolphins are in captivity for various reasons, although the main motivations are usually economic and recreational. There are here some common reasons:

Scientific research: some dolphins in captivity also are utilised in scientific investigations to study their behavior, comunication and physiology.

However, it’s important to note the topic of captivity of dolphins has generated a wide debate and preocupation in terms of animal welfare. Many defenders of animal rights argue that dolphins are highly intelligent and social beings suffering in captivity due to the restriction of their movement, the loss of their natural environment and limeted interaction with other dolphins.

In defense of them…

Many organizations and defenders of animal rights argue that keeping dolphins in captivity it’s a form of explotation and cruelty. It’s noted that these mamamls have complex emotional and physical needs that can’t be adequately satisfied in an artificial environment. In addition, there are documented cases of abusive and inadequate conditions in some water parks.

On the World Dolphin Day, there are activities and campaigns to encourage the realese pf captive dolphins and to promote the adoption of policies prohibiting their capture and trade. It also seeks to educate the public about the importance od the conservation of natural habitats of dolphins and the need to protect their well-being in freedom.

It’s essential to understand that the welfare and preservation of dolphins and other marine animalsare best achieved when they are allowed t olive in their natural environment, rather than being displayed or uesed for human entertainment.
